A loose cable can be caused by debris, a worn port, a damaged charger, or a fault on the board. We test those parts in order so you do not pay for a port replacement you do not need.
We begin with a live power-draw test to see how many watts your MacBook Pro pulls from the adapter. This instantly tells us if the cable, adapter, charge negotiation chip, or logic board is misbehaving. For USB-C models we inspect all four power delivery lanes under microscope and replace damaged connector pins before reflowing the port to the board.
MagSafe systems require a different approach. We ultrasonically clean the magnetic connector, test the DC-in board, and verify that the one-wire circuit is relaying battery data correctly. If liquid or carbon scoring is found, we perform component-level repairs on the power rail so the SMC can safely manage charging again.
Before hand-off we log battery health, charging wattage, and adapter recognition so you leave with proof that the system is negotiating the right power profile. You also get a short aftercare guide explaining how to manage different wattage adapters, travel docks, and external displays to avoid future port damage.
